VP Shettima Leads FG Delegation to Condole Kogi Governor Over Father’s Death

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday led a Federal Government delegation to Okene, Kogi State, to commiserate with Governor Usman Ododo over the death of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momohsani Ododo. Shettima, who visited on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described the passing of the patriarch as a great loss to the state and the nation, praying Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and Aljana Firdaus.

The Vice President was accompanied by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum; the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; and other dignitaries. He assured the Ododo family of the Federal Government’s support and urged the people of Kogi to remain united in peace. Responding, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude for the condolence visit, noting that Shettima’s presence had brought comfort during a period of grief. He commended the Vice President’s leadership qualities, describing him as a compassionate and supportive leader.

Also in attendance were Kogi Deputy Governor Joel Salifu, former Governor Yahaya Bello, members of the state executive council, and lawmakers from the Kogi State House of Assembly. Earlier in the week, Shettima attended prayers in Maiduguri for his late in-law, Muhammad Modu Manga, who passed away on August 18, 2025. The third-day prayer drew several top figures, including Governor Zulum, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Tahir Monguno, and other political, religious, and business leaders.
