Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa, to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit. On arrival, he was received and briefed by senior government officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, ahead of high-level meetings.
President Tinubu, originally scheduled to attend the summit, delegated the Vice President to lead the Nigerian delegation due to urgent security engagements at home. VP Shettima’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to active engagement in global policymaking and international cooperation.
The summit will bring together world leaders to address key global issues, including economic stability, climate action, development financing, and peace and security. Nigeria aims to leverage the platform to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties, attract investments, and advance discussions aligned with the country’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
