VP Shettima to World Leaders at COP30: “From Pledges to Performance on Climate Action”

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged world leaders to turn climate pledges into action, calling for global cooperation to tackle the growing impact of climate change. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, he reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to cutting emissions by 32% by 2035.

Shettima highlighted the launch of Nigeria’s National Carbon Market Framework and Climate Change Fund, key initiatives designed to attract clean energy investments and support vulnerable communities. He stressed that climate ambition must be backed by fairness, financing, and concrete delivery.
