Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has assured Nigerians that his team is fully prepared to meet the expectations of their passionate supporters as they head into the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

In a message shared via the Nigeria Football Federation’s media team, Madugu thanked fans across the country for their unwavering support, emphasizing that both players and technical staff remain committed to justifying the faith placed in them.

“We deeply appreciate the consistent support Nigerians have shown the Super Falcons,” Madugu said. “They’ve always believed in us, and we are doing everything possible to uphold that confidence and meet their expectations.”

He urged fans to continue backing the team with prayers and goodwill, particularly during the high-stakes tournament. “Let them continue to support, pray for, and believe in this team,” he added.

The nine-time African champions concluded their preparations with a 3-1 friendly victory over Ghana on Sunday. They are set to kick off their WAFCON campaign against Tunisia on July 6 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium.

While many expect the Falcons to secure a record-extending 10th title, Madugu insisted he is not weighed down by pressure. “I’m not under pressure. There will be distractions, but our focus is on the job ahead. Our goal is simple: win the trophy. That’s our definition of success,” he said.

Madugu also highlighted the broader impact of the team’s performance, particularly for Nigerian coaches like himself. “We’re not just representing the Super Falcons—we’re representing all Nigerian coaches. If we succeed, it opens doors for others. If we fail, it makes it harder for the next coach.”

Nigeria will face Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana in Group B as they seek to reclaim the continental title from reigning champions South Africa, who lifted the trophy in 2022.
