
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has praised the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for six decades of professional excellence, reaffirming that the private sector remains the engine of Nigeria’s economic growth.
Speaking at ICAN’s 60th Anniversary and 55th Annual Accountants’ Conference in Abuja, Edun said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold reforms are restoring credibility, boosting productivity, and promoting innovation. He noted improvements in GDP growth, industrial output, inflation, and foreign reserves as signs of recovery.
The Minister emphasised that government reforms are focused on transparency, predictability, and accountability, aimed at empowering private enterprise. He reiterated the administration’s target of achieving 7 percent GDP growth through infrastructure investment, fiscal discipline, and digital public finance reforms.
