In the wake of multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri on Monday evening, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has called on residents to remain vigilant and not let their guard down.

The blasts, which occurred in busy areas including Monday Market, the Post Office district, and near the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, left dozens dead and many more injured, according to local authorities and eyewitnesses. Exact casualty figures are still being verified.

Senator Ndume, representing Borno South, described the attacks as “barbaric and inhumane” and condemned them as a direct assault on innocent civilians. He expressed deep sorrow for the victims and extended condolences to their families as well as the Borno State government.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ndume emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance, particularly with Eid celebrations approaching. He urged residents to report any suspicious activities to security agencies and to remain alert amid ongoing security challenges in the region.

Northern governors have also condemned the attacks, pledging full support to the state’s security apparatus. Security forces have been placed on heightened alert as investigations continue into the perpetrators of the blasts.

The tragic events highlight the continued threat of terrorism in northeast Nigeria and the urgent need for coordinated efforts to protect civilians.
