West Ham United have appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager, just hours after parting ways with Graham Potter.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on Saturday, revealing that the Portuguese coach has signed his contract and will assume duties immediately. His first training session with the squad is scheduled for later today.

“Nuno Espirito Santo, new West Ham manager with immediate effect as contract has been approved. Portuguese manager replaces Graham Potter with the first training session later today. Nuno says yes to #WHUFC project,” Romano wrote on X, marking the start of a new chapter at the London Stadium.

Potter’s dismissal followed a run of poor results stretching back to the latter half of last season and continuing into the opening weeks of the 2025/26 campaign. In a statement, the West Ham board said performances had “not matched expectations” and emphasized the need for swift improvement in the Premier League standings.

Potter’s backroom staff—assistant coach Bruno Saltor and first-team coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach—also departed, leaving the Hammers to undergo a full reset.

Nuno is best remembered for his successful stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he led the club from the Championship to the Europa League knockout stages. He later had a short spell at Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Saudi Arabia, where he guided Al-Ittihad to the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League title.

The club has yet to issue an official statement beyond confirming Potter’s exit.
