Why Lawmakers Want Fubara, Deputy Out of Office

Lawmakers in Rivers State have called for the removal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, accusing them of gross misconduct, constitutional breaches, and actions they claim threaten democratic governance in the state.

The legislators alleged that the governor and his deputy have repeatedly disregarded the authority of the State House of Assembly, including failure to properly present budget proposals and persistent violations of due legislative process in the conduct of government business.

They further accused the executive arm of government of withholding funds and deliberately frustrating the activities of the Assembly, a development they said has crippled effective lawmaking and weakened the principle of separation of powers.

According to the lawmakers, allowing the governor and his deputy to remain in office could endanger peace, stability, and constitutional order in Rivers State. They maintained that impeachment remains a lawful option should the alleged infractions continue.
