Wike Accuses Peter Odili of Siding with Rivers Governor in Ongoing Political Crisis

The political crisis in Rivers State remains unresolved, with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike accusing former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili of aligning with Governor Siminalayi Fubara against him, rather than taking a neutral, fatherly role in helping to resolve the escalating tensions.

Wike made the remarks during a thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt on Sunday, held in honor of Martin Amaewhule, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. The service, which took place at the Church of the Holy Spirit Anglican Church, brought together key political figures, including APC South-South National Vice Chairman Victor Giadom and Rivers PDP Chairman Aron Chukwuemeka, among others.

During his address, Wike expressed frustration over Odili’s perceived bias, questioning why the former governor, whom he claimed to have supported, was now taking sides with Fubara. This accusation came just a day after Odili publicly praised Fubara for his developmental achievements in governance, adding fuel to the already tense political atmosphere in the state.

Wike’s comments reflect the ongoing division within the Rivers political landscape, as rival factions continue to challenge each other’s influence in the state’s governance and political future.
