Wike Fines Ganduje, Idiagbon and Oyinlola Over Illegal Land Use

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nyesom Wike, has fined several top politicians and government officials ₦5 million each for illegally converting lands allocated to them for other purposes without approval.

Arise News reported that those affected include former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, late General Tunde Idiagbon who once served as Chief of Staff at Supreme Headquarters under Babangida, former Osun State Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as well as former Chief Justices of Nigeria Justice Atanda Fatai-Williams and Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar.

The FCT Administration stated that Ganduje converted a house in Wuse 2 into a bank, Idiagbon turned a Maitama residence into a hotel, while Oyinlola converted his Asokoro house into Zhouyi Hotel. It was also discovered that some others converted their properties into markets, hotels, exhibition centers, gyms, and shopping complexes.

Wike directed all those affected to pay the fine before September 10, 2025, and to update their land documents under the new 99-year land use system.
