The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, accusing them of being “consistently inconsistent” and betrayers. Wike made the remarks during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television.
He faulted Tambuwal for publicly describing him as a friend while refusing to trust him with leadership responsibilities, insisting that both Tambuwal and Atiku have a history of shifting political allegiances for personal gain rather than upholding consistent principles. According to him, their actions undermine the credibility of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and expose a pattern of betrayal in their political careers.
Wike further suggested that Tambuwal’s political maneuvers, including an alleged bid for a Senate role under an Atiku presidency, reflect opportunism and a lack of loyalty to the party’s ideals. He stressed that such conduct has raised serious questions about their commitment to genuine leadership and political stability.
Speaking through his aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike maintained that politics must be driven by integrity and consistency. He said the behaviour of Atiku and Tambuwal falls short of these values, warning that Nigerians deserve leaders whose loyalty is to the nation and not self-serving ambitions.
