The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked land allocations for prominent Nigerians, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume.

The revocations, which affected 759 individuals and organizations in the Maitama II District of Abuja, were announced in a publication by the FCT Administration. The action was taken due to the non-payment of Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) fees.

In a separate statement, the minister also issued a warning to additional landholders, including Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Kingsley Chinda, former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute, and Senate Chief Whip Senator Tahir Monguno, among 610 others. They have been given a two-week deadline to settle outstanding fees or face similar revocations.

This move follows months of Minister Wike’s calls for FCT residents, particularly those in affluent areas of the capital, to pay their outstanding dues or risk losing their land allocations.

Lere Olayinka, Special Adviser to the FCT Minister on Media, emphasized the importance of complying with FCT regulations and noted that the government had shown patience before taking this action.
