Zimbabwe have parted ways with head coach Michael Nees after he failed to secure a single win in 10 qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the national football association announced on Wednesday.
The Warriors managed five draws and five defeats, finishing bottom of their qualifying group, which was topped by neighbours South Africa, who booked their fourth appearance at the global tournament.
Nees, 58, won just two of his 16 matches in charge since his appointment last year — both victories coming against Namibia in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Zimbabwe are set to face Egypt, South Africa and Angola in the group stage of the AFCON tournament, which kicks off in Morocco on December 21.
