Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has distributed food items to widows and other vulnerable members of the Christian community in the state as part of activities to mark the forthcoming Christmas celebration.
The intervention is expected to benefit more than 6,000 people across the state, including 1,605 internally displaced persons (IDPs). Each beneficiary received a bag of rice, a carton of spaghetti and a gallon of cooking oil.
The distribution exercise, which was carried out on Monday, forms part of the governor’s annual support programme for vulnerable groups. The initiative has been sustained since Governor Zulum assumed office in 2019, reflecting his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness and social welfare regardless of religious affiliation.
