Zulum Leads North East Governors to Tinubu, Seeks Completion of Key Roads, Oil Exploration

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday led his colleagues from the North East to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where they met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to push for the completion of critical infrastructure and revival of oil exploration in the region.

The governors, under the platform of the North East Governors Forum, requested urgent intervention in 17 major road projects across the zone as well as resumption of oil exploration in the Kolmani and Lake Chad frontier wells.

Those in attendance included Governors Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Bala Muhammad of Bauchi, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba.

Governor Zulum, who chaired the delegation, highlighted the importance of the roads in boosting regional integration, security, and economic development. He listed the projects to include the Kano-Maiduguri Road, Port Harcourt-Jos-Bauchi-Maiduguri Railway line, Bama-Mubi-Yola Road, Wukari-Jalingo-Yola Road, Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Damaturu Road, Damaturu-Geidam Road, Bauchi-Ningi-Nasaru-Babaldo Road, Gombe-Potiskum Road, and Damaturu-Biu Road, among others.

He commended President Tinubu for sustaining the fight against insurgency and for ongoing efforts to restore peace in the sub-region. He also pledged the support of the North East governors for the administration’s initiatives on manpower training, technology adoption, and agricultural development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Responding, President Tinubu acknowledged the concerns raised by the delegation and assured them of his administration’s commitment to meeting the developmental needs of the North East.
