Lebanon’s health ministry reported that an Israeli drone strike on Sunday killed one person in Aita al-Shaab, a day after the most intense escalation since a November ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
Israel’s military confirmed the strike, stating it had “attacked and eliminated” a Hezbollah member in the area. Meanwhile, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) also reported separate Israeli strikes on Naqurah, Shihin, and Labbouneh near the Israeli border.
Saturday saw the deadliest escalation since the ceasefire, with Lebanon’s health ministry confirming seven deaths, including a Hezbollah official targeted in Tyre. Israel claimed the strikes were a response to rocket fire, an allegation Hezbollah denied.
Iran condemned the attacks as “extensive military aggression” and labeled Israel a “real threat to international peace and security.”
Despite the ceasefire, Israel has continued targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, citing violations of the agreement. Hezbollah is required to withdraw north of the Litani River and dismantle military infrastructure, while Israel is supposed to withdraw from occupied positions along the Blue Line—deadlines it has missed.
