President Bola Tinubu has expressed his condolences to elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, Professor Iya Abubakar, following the passing of his wife, Hajiya Ummu Abubakar. Hajiya Ummu Abubakar passed away in Abuja at the age of 78.

In a statement issued on August 29, 2024, President Tinubu praised the late Ummu Abubakar for her deep devotion to God and unwavering commitment to family values. He highlighted her role as the mother-in-law of the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, emphasizing the impact she had on those around her.

The President offered prayers for God’s mercy upon the deceased and encouraged the Abubakar family to uphold the legacy of good character and values that Hajiya Ummu Abubakar left behind.
