The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), highlighting massive financial interventions and support programmes under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
This was revealed at the 2026 National MSME Awards, where ₦1 billion was disbursed to 100 outstanding businesses as part of ongoing efforts to support enterprise growth and job creation across the country.
In the past three years, the government says it has implemented wide-ranging interventions targeted at boosting small businesses and improving economic inclusion.
According to official figures, about ₦125 billion has been disbursed in direct federal grants and intervention funds to support MSMEs nationwide.
The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) has also provided ₦874 billion in funding to approximately 751,000 women- and youth-owned MSMEs, aimed at expanding access to finance and strengthening entrepreneurship.
In addition, the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) has facilitated over ₦394.88 billion in support for exporters to enhance non-oil export growth and competitiveness.
The administration further noted that over 165,000 artisans have been trained, while 21 shared infrastructure facilities have been established, contributing to the creation of more than 650,000 jobs.
Government officials say these initiatives reflect a coordinated effort to expand economic opportunities, strengthen productivity, and support sustainable growth within the MSME sector across Nigeria.
