Manchester City’s first home game of the 2025/26 Premier League season ended in defeat as Pep Guardiola’s men were beaten 2–0 by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
First-half strikes from Brennan Johnson and João Palhinha sealed the win for Spurs, who frustrated City’s attack and handed the champions their first loss of the campaign, just a week after their emphatic victory at Wolves.
The result gives Thomas Frank’s side an early statement of intent, while leaving Guardiola with an early setback in his team’s title defence.
