Female Yellow Greens coach Leke Oyede has announced Nigeria’s final 14-player squad for the 2026 ICC T20 Women’s World Cup Africa Qualifier, scheduled to take place in Namibia from August 28 to September 7.

Oyede made bold selection decisions, leaving out several established names, including captain Favour Eseigbe, Esther Sandy, and Abigail Igbobie. In their place, Peculiar Agboya will lead the side, with wicketkeeper Sarah Etim appointed vice-captain.

The squad features Piety Lucky, who captained Nigeria at the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia earlier this year, alongside several of her teammates from that campaign—Lilian Ude, Shola Adekunle, Kehinde Amusa, Peace Usen, Victory Igbinedion, Anointed Akhigbe, Christabel Chukwuonye, and Omosigho Eguakun.

The only debutant in the team is Oseyande Omonkhobhio, while fierce batter Salome Sunday and Racheal Samson complete the lineup.

Nigeria will compete against Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone in the qualifiers. The top two teams will secure places in the global qualifiers later this year, with the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup set to be staged in England.
