The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Monday night hosted a closed-door meeting with key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at his residence in Abuja.
Among those present were PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; former Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom; Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda; and several lawmakers, state party chairmen, and zonal leaders.
Although details of the discussions have not been officially disclosed, sources familiar with the meeting said it centered on strengthening party unity ahead of upcoming national conventions and resolving internal disagreements. The leaders also reportedly deliberated on zoning arrangements and strategies to reposition the party for future elections.
The gathering comes amid renewed debates within the PDP over the potential return of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to the fold. Wike and other party stalwarts have previously warned that such moves could deepen divisions if not carefully managed.
Further resolutions from the Abuja meeting are expected to be made public in the coming days.
