The Federal Government has called on the private sector to collaborate with it in harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s vast pool of creative talent. The Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, made this appeal on Wednesday in Lagos during a meeting with corporate entities, members of the art community, and other stakeholders.

Musawa outlined the government’s plans to enhance the creative sector’s contribution to the national economy. The strategy includes smart partnerships, boosting the sector’s GDP contribution, skill development, and creating jobs.

“Our goal is to make Nigeria a cultural hub for the world. Let’s unify the country; let everyone around the world see themselves and understand more about us through the expression of our art,” Musawa said.

She praised the contributions of the entertainment industry but noted that other subsectors, like visual arts and theatre, also need more support to become viable economic drivers. “Let’s work together, it can add value to the investor and the nation, so no aspect of the creative sector is left behind,” she added.

The minister emphasized the importance of supporting young talent in Nigeria and encouraged private sector collaboration to unlock the potential within the arts, culture, and creative economy.
