The Federal Government has announced that all students in Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) across the country will enjoy fully funded education, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to technical and vocational learning under the TVET initiative.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the government bears the full cost of tuition to guarantee equal access to technical education.

He emphasized that no administrator is permitted to demand extra payments from parents or guardians, stating that circulars have been circulated to all schools and parents to reinforce the directive.

Parents and guardians have been urged to report any illegal demand directly to the ministry via Hotlines: 0803 657 6733, 0803 637 3796 or Email: tse@education.gov.ng

Dr Alausa also stated that all expenses such as boarding, uniforms, textbooks, exercise books, prospectuses, ID cards, stationery, clubs and societies, medical services, vocational training, utilities, security, websites/e-result, Skool Media, extra lessons, and insurance are fully funded by the government but the schools are still expected to provide some personal items such as toiletries, beddings, and clothing.

“No Nigerian child should be denied access to technical education because of unauthorized charges. By investing in education today, we are building a stronger and self-reliant Nigeria,” the minister declared.

Collaborators were persuaded to safeguard the free-education programme and help FTCs in their mandate of producing skilled graduates for national growth and transformation.
