AS Monaco have parted ways with Austrian manager Adi Hütter and are set to appoint Belgian coach Sebastien Pocognoli as his replacement, sources told AFP on Thursday.
Hütter, 55, will leave alongside his assistants Christian Peintinger and Klaus Schmidt, bringing an end to their two-year tenure at the club. The trio reportedly informed the players of their departure following Thursday’s training session.
Monaco currently sit fifth in Ligue 1, with four wins and one draw from their opening seven matches — just three points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. In Europe, the club suffered defeat to Club Brugge in their Champions League opener but bounced back with a 2-2 draw against Manchester City last week.
According to club sources, Monaco had initially attempted to reach an agreement with former Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzić, 42, but talks failed to produce a deal.
The Ligue 1 side have now turned their attention to Pocognoli, 38, who guided Union Saint-Gilloise to their first Belgian league title in 90 years last season — his debut campaign as a first-team manager.
