
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have restored order in Gubio, Borno State, following a violent clash between local vigilantes and cattle herders on Saturday.
Security sources said the confrontation erupted around 2:30 p.m. after a dispute between members of the vigilante group and herders escalated into violence. The exact cause of the disagreement has not been confirmed.
Responding swiftly to distress calls, military personnel were deployed to the area, where they successfully dispersed the fighting groups and restored calm.
Counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the intervention on social media, noting that troops acted promptly to prevent further bloodshed.
While peace has been reestablished, local sources reported that several people sustained injuries, though the number of casualties remains unconfirmed.
Gubio, located in northern Borno, has witnessed intermittent tension involving herders and local vigilantes often tied to disputes over grazing routes, farmland, and security control.
