INEC to PDP Factions: Put Your House in Order

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged the warring factions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to resolve their internal disputes and put their house in order.

INEC said the commission would only recognise decisions and submissions that comply with the provisions of the law and the PDP’s constitution, stressing that internal party crises often disrupt electoral processes.

The commission advised the party’s leadership and stakeholders to follow due process in resolving disagreements, noting that INEC will not intervene in intra-party matters beyond what is provided for by law.

The PDP has been grappling with leadership and organisational disputes, which have deepened divisions within the party in recent months. INEC’s warning comes amid concerns that the crisis could affect the party’s preparations for future elections.
