
The Kano State Police Command has apprehended five suspects allegedly involved in kidnapping and cattle rustling, following intelligence-driven operations in the state.
The arrests were carried out in Kiru and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas, with the Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical units coordinating the operations. Among those arrested is Shafiu Ibrahim, 25, from Kaduna State, who reportedly admitted to being part of a kidnapping syndicate and engaging in cattle rustling activities. Another suspect, Bishir Umar, 24, from Katsina State, was detained while under surveillance, while other suspects fled, abandoning a motorcycle and rifle.
Recovered from the suspects were a motorcycle and other items linked to their criminal activities. Investigations are ongoing, and the police confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised members of the public for their cooperation in providing vital information, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
