Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has announced his intention to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Bello made the declaration while addressing supporters and political associates, stating that he is prepared to return to active legislative politics to represent the interests of his people at the National Assembly.

The Kogi Central seat is currently occupied by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, whose tenure runs until the end of the present assembly. Bello’s declaration is expected to reshape the political landscape of the district, given his influence and past role as governor of the state.

Political observers say the announcement signals the beginning of early alignments and strategic calculations ahead of the 2027 elections in Kogi State, particularly in Kogi Central, which is considered a key battleground.
