Premier League side Chelsea have officially confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new head coach, following the departure of Italian tactician Enzo Maresca last week.

The 41-year-old English coach has signed a contract running until 2032, making him the fourth permanent head coach to be appointed since the club’s takeover by a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly in 2022.

Reacting to his appointment, Rosenior said he was deeply honoured to take charge of the London club, describing Chelsea as a team with a rich winning tradition and a distinctive identity.

Rosenior joins Chelsea after leaving French Ligue 1 outfit Racing Strasbourg, where he took charge in July 2024. His coaching career has also included roles at Derby County, where he served as assistant to Wayne Rooney, and Hull City in England’s Championship.

Born in London, Rosenior enjoyed a playing career that featured spells with Fulham, Hull City and Brighton & Hove Albion before transitioning into management. His coaching credentials have earned high praise, with former England striker Wayne Rooney describing him as one of the finest coaches he has worked alongside.

Chelsea said the appointment reflects the club’s long-term vision as it seeks stability and sustained success under its current ownership.
