President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned the ultra-modern Bola Tinubu Complex at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system and reduce medical tourism.
The President, represented at the event by the Medical Director of FMC Abuja, Prof. Saad Ahmed, described the new facility as a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s commitment to repositioning the health sector for improved efficiency, accessibility, and quality service delivery to citizens. He reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to ensure that Nigerians have access to world-class medical care within the country.
According to officials, the newly commissioned complex is equipped with modern medical infrastructure designed to expand the hospital’s capacity for specialist services and complex clinical procedures. It includes consulting rooms, twin theatre suites, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Ophthalmology departments, laboratories, pharmacy units, VIP wards, and general wards, among other facilities.
The project forms part of broader investments by the Federal Government aimed at upgrading healthcare infrastructure across the country, improving patient care, and strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system to reduce the need for overseas medical treatment.
