A political pressure group, the Kogi East APC Elders Forum, has cautioned the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and other political actors against interfering in the internal political affairs of Kogi State, particularly in the selection process for the Kogi East senatorial district.

The forum, in a statement, warned against alleged external influence on party decisions, insisting that stakeholders within Kogi East must be allowed to determine their political direction through established democratic and party processes.

It stressed that attempts by external forces to impose candidates or influence outcomes of primary elections could undermine internal democracy and create tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The elders further urged national party leaders to respect the wishes of party members at the grassroots level, adding that unity and fairness remain critical to the stability of the party ahead of future elections.

The group also reaffirmed its support for its preferred candidate in the ongoing political consultations, while calling on stakeholders to remain calm and avoid actions capable of escalating political disagreements in the state.
