The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has condemned the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku, describing the incident as “reprehensible and unacceptable.”

In a statement, the SGF expressed shock and outrage over the attack, which also claimed the life of an associate of the deceased, and called on security agencies to ensure a swift and thorough investigation.

He described the killings as a direct assault on ongoing efforts to strengthen peace, reconciliation, and mutual trust among communities in Benue State.

Akume warned that criminal elements must not be allowed to reverse gains recorded in restoring peace, urging residents to reject violence, hatred, and reprisal attacks.

He stressed that sustainable development can only thrive in an environment of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect among all groups.

The SGF extended condolences to the family of the deceased and the leadership of MACBAN, while calling for calm and cooperation with security agencies.

He also urged the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to conduct a transparent investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Akume reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to tackling insecurity and strengthening peace and security across the country.
