The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has begun supplying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, directly to oil marketers, bypassing the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC). This development marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s fuel distribution landscape, as more oil marketers are now seeking to purchase petrol directly from the refinery.

Industry sources revealed that while some marketers are securing fuel from the Dangote Refinery, others continue to import PMS. In the coming weeks, hundreds of millions of litres of imported petrol are expected to arrive on Nigeria’s shores.

This move by the Dangote Refinery is seen as a game-changer in the Nigerian oil sector, potentially reducing the country’s dependence on fuel imports and reshaping the role of the NNPC in fuel distribution.
