On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged BRICS nations to act as a “stabilizing force” amid the “serious challenges” facing the world. Xi made the remarks on the final day of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, where Moscow is seeking to build a united front against Western powers.

Addressing the gathered leaders, Xi highlighted the importance of the global South’s progress, calling it “a major event in world history.”

“We must serve as a stabilizing force for peace, enhance global security governance, and seek solutions to key crises that address both symptoms and root causes,” he said.

Xi warned that global peace remains under threat and called for urgent action to prevent further conflict.

“We must continue efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, revive the two-state solution, and prevent the escalation of war in Lebanon,” he emphasized.

“There must be no more suffering or destruction in Palestine and Lebanon,” he added.
