The Federal Government has emphasised the need for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity awareness, and digital skills among Nigerian civil servants to improve efficiency, productivity, and service delivery across public institutions.
The Minister responsible for digital transformation stated that modern governance increasingly depends on technology-driven systems, noting that the civil service must adapt to emerging tools to remain relevant and effective in a rapidly evolving digital environment.
He explained that the integration of AI and digital technologies into government operations would enhance data management, improve decision-making processes, and reduce administrative bottlenecks within ministries, departments, and agencies.
The minister also highlighted the importance of cybersecurity capacity, warning that government systems are increasingly exposed to digital threats that require skilled personnel to safeguard sensitive national data and infrastructure.
According to him, continuous training and upskilling of civil servants remain essential to building a modern, responsive, and efficient public service capable of delivering improved outcomes for citizens.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to investing in digital literacy programmes and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s public sector performance through technology adoption.
