Tinubu Congratulates Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya on Historic NBA Presidency

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the first elected and second female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

In a statement, the President described her emergence as a landmark achievement for the legal profession and a victory for merit, excellence and gender inclusion.

Tinubu praised Badejo-Okusanya’s distinguished career, noting that her integrity, professionalism and commitment to justice earned her the confidence and support of legal practitioners across the country.

He said her election reflects the growing recognition of the vital role women play in nation-building and the administration of justice, expressing confidence that her leadership would strengthen the legal profession, uphold the rule of law and promote reforms that improve access to justice.

The President urged the NBA President-elect to work with stakeholders to advance judicial reforms, safeguard the Constitution and reinforce the legal profession’s role in sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.

He also encouraged her to unite members of the association by reaching out to other contestants and addressing issues that arose during the election.

President Tinubu wished Badejo-Okusanya a successful tenure and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with the Nigerian Bar Association to deepen democratic governance, promote justice and build a more united and prosperous Nigeria.
