Valencia’s Copa del Rey first-round match against Parla Escuela has been postponed again due to severe flooding in the region.

The club had requested a second postponement for the game, originally scheduled for November 6, after it was first delayed from October 30 by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

The flooding has resulted in at least 217 fatalities, with many others reported missing, following a powerful storm that struck eastern Spain last week.

The match has now been rescheduled for November 26, along with other postponed games involving teams from the affected areas, except for Real Sociedad’s match against Jove Español.

In a statement, Valencia expressed their understanding that “in this time of great difficulty, all energy, attention, and support must be focused on helping those affected by the tragic events.” They emphasized that football is secondary at this time.

Valencia also extended their gratitude to the RFEF and Parla Escuela for their cooperation in rescheduling the match and conveyed their condolences to the families of the deceased and those impacted by the disaster.

Several coaches and players from La Liga expressed their belief that all league fixtures should have been postponed over the weekend, rather than just Valencia’s match against Real Madrid and Villarreal’s game against Rayo Vallecano.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone stated that it “made no sense” to play matches under the circumstances, while Barcelona’s Hansi Flick said he would have canceled the entire round of games if it were his decision. Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti also remarked on Monday that it was “hard” to discuss football given the current situation, ahead of their Champions League match against AC Milan on Tuesday.
