President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel to Accra, Ghana, on Monday, January 6, to attend the inauguration of Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama. The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
John Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and will take over from President Nana Akufo-Addo, whose tenure concludes after serving from 2017 to 2025.
President Tinubu’s attendance follows an invitation from Mahama, who had visited the Nigerian president in December. The two leaders share a long-standing personal relationship, reflective of the deep historical and bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana.
As the current Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu will join other African leaders at the inauguration, underscoring regional solidarity and cooperation.
Accompanying the president on the trip will be Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, alongside other senior Nigerian government officials.
This visit further demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to fostering strong regional partnerships and promoting democracy within West Africa.
