
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, on the occasion of his birthday.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Fashola as an outstanding administrator, accomplished legal practitioner, and patriotic Nigerian whose contributions to public service and national development have left a lasting impact, particularly in Lagos State.
Tinubu commended Fashola’s commitment to progressive governance, integrity in public office, intellectual depth, and dedication to nation-building, noting that his service has continued to inspire many Nigerians.
The President also recalled Fashola’s tenure as his Chief of Staff between 2003 and 2006, as well as his two terms as Governor of Lagos State from 2007 to 2015, during which he spearheaded major reforms in infrastructure, transportation, security, education, healthcare, environmental management, and public administration.
According to Tinubu, Fashola’s commitment to excellence played a significant role in transforming Lagos into a model of innovation and sustainable urban development.
The President further praised the former governor’s record of service and leadership, describing him as one of the outstanding figures in Nigeria’s public sector.
Tinubu concluded by wishing Fashola good health, wisdom, strength, and many more years of meaningful contributions to the growth, unity, and prosperity of Nigeria.
