The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has approved the immediate deployment of new passport printers to New York and Atlanta. This strategic move is aimed at addressing the current backlog of passport applications and enhancing service delivery for Nigerian citizens residing abroad.

The deployment is part of a broader effort by the government to streamline passport processing and ensure that Nigerians in the diaspora have improved access to consular services. The addition of these printers is expected to significantly reduce delays and provide faster processing times for applicants.

Hon. Tunji-Ojo reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Nigerians abroad and ensuring efficient service delivery. “We recognize the challenges our citizens face and are taking decisive steps to address them. This deployment underscores our dedication to serving Nigerians, no matter where they are,” the minister stated.

The new printers will bolster the capacities of the Nigerian consulates in New York and Atlanta, helping to clear the backlog of pending applications and ensuring that new requests are processed promptly. This initiative is expected to bring relief to many Nigerians who have faced extended delays in obtaining their passports.
