Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the deadly attack on Saai Community in Mbajir Ward, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, describing the incident as a senseless and cowardly assault on innocent residents.

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 1, reportedly claimed several lives and left many others injured, sparking renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia directed security agencies to immediately launch a manhunt for those responsible, deploy additional personnel to the affected community and surrounding areas, and ensure the safety of residents and farmers.

Describing the attackers as enemies of peace and progress, the governor said the assault came at a critical period when farmers had returned to their ancestral lands to cultivate crops, warning that such violence threatens both livelihoods and food security in Benue State.

Governor Alia also extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and wished those receiving medical treatment a speedy recovery.

He reassured residents that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property, urging them not to be discouraged by the latest violence.
