The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to roll out Smart Police Stations across the country as part of a bold move to modernise law enforcement and improve national security infrastructure. This landmark initiative is being implemented through a strategic partnership between Galaxy Backbone (GBB) and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Abuja outlines plans to equip police stations with cutting-edge digital infrastructure including high-speed fibre connectivity, cloud computing, real-time surveillance, emergency communication systems, and AI-powered data analytics. These upgrades will enable more efficient policing, faster response times, and increased public trust.
Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, highlighted that the project aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by introducing technology-driven reforms in the security sector. He emphasized that the smart policing initiative will help digitize case management, streamline operations, and strengthen coordination within the Nigeria Police Force.
With the deployment of these smart police stations, Nigeria is taking a significant step toward a digitally resilient security system. The initiative also underscores the Tinubu administration’s commitment to building strong institutions, enhancing public safety, and leveraging technology to transform governance and service delivery across the country.
