PRESIDENT TINUBU CONSTITUTES INTER-MINISTERIAL COMMITTEE FOR STATE BURIAL OF FORMER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the establishment of an Inter-Ministerial Committee tasked with organizing a befitting State Funeral for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.

The Committee is chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, and includes key members of the Federal Executive Council and top security chiefs. The Committee’s primary mandate is to plan and coordinate all activities related to the State Burial of the late elder statesman.

Members of the Committee include:
1. Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy
2. Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning
3. Honourable Minister of Defence
4. Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation
5. Honourable Minister of Works
6. Honourable Minister of Interior
7. Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
8. Honourable Minister of Housing and Urban Development
9. Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare
10. Honourable Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy
11. National Security Adviser
12. Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination
13. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters
14. Inspector General of Police
15. Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS)
16. Chief of Defence Staff

The Office of the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office (GSO), will serve as the Secretariat to the Committee.

In further honour of President Buhari’s memory, President Tinubu has directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to open condolence registers at the entrance of their respective offices, enabling members of the public to pay their respects.

Additionally, a central condolence register will be made available for the diplomatic community and the general public at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
