Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has strongly condemned the release of an indecent video showing a female passenger, Comfort Emmanson, in a state of indecent exposure during an altercation on an Ibom Air flight. While supporting the use of footage to prosecute the passenger for her unruly behaviour, Keyamo described the public sharing of such sensitive material as “totally unacceptable” and warned that the staff responsible for releasing the footage will be identified and face sanctions.
The incident occurred on August 10, 2025, aboard Ibom Air Flight No. Q153 from Uyo to Lagos, where the passenger refused to comply with aviation safety rules by not switching off her phone during takeoff and subsequently physically assaulted crew and ground staff. Following the incident, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority imposed an indefinite flight ban on Emmanson, and she was arraigned and remanded at Kirikiri Prison for criminal charges.
In response to the situation, Keyamo has directed airlines to intensify staff training on public relations and handling volatile situations, while also calling for a joint security meeting between relevant aviation agencies to improve coordination. He emphasized that while grievances can be addressed through official channels, unruly behaviour will attract strict sanctions, including lengthy bans and legal action.
