The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lowering the rate from ₦850 to ₦820 per litre. The new pricing takes effect immediately, as part of the company’s strategy to enhance affordability and ensure a steady supply of fuel nationwide.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the refinery said the adjustment aligns with its commitment to support national development and stabilize the energy market. The company assured that supply would remain uninterrupted, even as it moves to improve operational efficiency.
As part of its broader logistics and sustainability plan, Dangote Refinery will begin deploying 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks for fuel distribution from August 15, 2025. The move is expected to reduce transportation costs and environmental impact while strengthening distribution networks across the country.
Market analysts note that other private depot owners have also adjusted prices, with current ex-depot rates ranging between ₦820 and ₦870 per litre. Dangote’s latest cut represents one of the most competitive offers in the market.
In Abuja, retail pump prices on Tuesday evening ranged between ₦885 and ₦970 per litre. Industry experts anticipate that the ex-depot price reduction could lead to lower pump prices in the coming days, depending on whether marketers pass the savings to consumers.
