No fewer than 12 serving members of the House of Representatives failed to secure return tickets during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries held across several states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primaries, which produced both major upsets and fresh contenders, saw some high-profile lawmakers lose their bids to return to the National Assembly, while others retained their seats unopposed.

Among those reportedly defeated were House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere, Chike Okafor, Miriam Onuoha, Harrison Nwadike, and several other incumbents from different states.

In Imo State alone, four serving lawmakers lost their return tickets during the APC primaries conducted across the state’s federal constituencies.

The exercises were also marked by controversies in some states, including allegations of intimidation, disqualification, delayed voting materials, and protests by aspirants and party supporters.

Meanwhile, prominent APC figures such as Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, House spokesperson Akin Rotimi, and Yusuf Buhari secured victory in their respective primaries.
