Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has declared that all governors in the South-East are united in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. Speaking in a video shared on Instagram by @peopleofebonyi_ on Sunday, Umahi maintained that the region’s governors were fully aligned with the president’s vision and leadership.
He also positioned himself as a key figure in the South-East’s political future, insisting that when the presidency rotates to the region, his track record as governor and minister places him at the forefront. “When the presidency comes to the South-East, I should be at the forefront because of my performance. I created something out of this state. God used me to do it,” he said, challenging critics to a debate on his achievements compared with other leaders in the zone.
Umahi further urged the region to avoid sentimental politics and instead pursue strategic alliances. He stressed that the South-East’s path to the presidency lies in building partnerships with other regions, adding: “We can’t get to the presidency by sentiment. We have to re-engage; we have to support other regions. And at the time of God, nobody will stop it.”
