President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set for a busy diplomatic schedule over the next few weeks, with key visits to Japan and Brazil.
From August 20–22, the President will be in Yokohama, Japan, for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). The summit, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” will focus on economic transformation, innovation, and strengthening cooperation between Africa and Japan. President Tinubu is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and strategic engagements with Japanese business leaders exploring investment opportunities in Nigeria.
Following the Japan trip, President Tinubu will embark on a State Visit to Brazil from August 24–25 at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. A major highlight of this visit will be the signing of a landmark Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), personally mandated by President Tinubu and championed by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. The BASA will open direct flight routes between Nigeria and Brazil, boosting tourism, attracting foreign investment, creating jobs, and cementing Nigeria’s role as a key aviation hub across the South Atlantic.
