The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), under the leadership of Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, alongside CBN Governor, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, has raised a total of ₦8.99 trillion through Treasury Bills (T-Bills) between January and July 2025. The milestone reflects strong investor appetite for government securities and underscores the impact of the administration’s economic reforms on financial markets.

Analysts report that demand for T-Bills has remained high, as both domestic and foreign investors turn to the instruments as a safe-haven investment in the face of global economic uncertainty. The attractive yields have bolstered participation and provided critical support for government financing, while also helping the CBN manage liquidity in the banking system.

The performance signals confidence in the Tinubu administration’s fiscal and monetary strategy, with the CBN expected to sustain its issuance programme throughout the year. With nearly ₦9 trillion already raised in seven months, the combined efforts of Edun and Cardoso are seen as strengthening investor trust while balancing inflationary control with sustainable funding.
