Oyetola described the development as a testament to Nigeria’s rising profile in global maritime affairs. He said Dr. Dantsoho’s election would not only strengthen Nigeria’s voice on international port matters but also open fresh opportunities for collaboration and investment across Africa’s maritime sector.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also extended his felicitations to the NPA boss, urging him to use the position to further Nigeria’s ambition of expanding its economy to $1 trillion by 2030. The President expressed confidence that Dantsoho’s experience and leadership would boost port reforms, improve efficiency, and project Nigeria as a key hub for maritime trade.

The International Association for Ports and Harbours (IAPH) is the world’s leading port organization, representing seaports across continents and driving policy on port development, sustainability, and global cooperation. Dantsoho’s emergence marks another milestone in Nigeria’s growing influence within the international maritime community.
